SFH, OGSG Collaborate to Strengthen Health Communication Across PHCs

In a bid to improve healthcare delivery and communication across primary health centers (PHCs) in Ogun State, the Society for Family Health (SFH), through the Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC 2.0) project, has partnered with the Ogun State Government (OGSG) to finalize the review and adoption of the State first Integrated RMNCAEH+N Health Facility Messaging Flipchart to strengthen health communication strategies.
Speaking at the event, Olusola Oyewole, SFH’s DISC 2.0 Program Officer, described the initiative of the integrated flipchart as a game-changer for health communication in the state.
According to her, the tool is aimed at promoting uniform, consistent, and accurate health education messages across health facilities.
Dr Thomas Solarin, Director of Disease Control and Immunisation, who facilitated the working session, emphasised the importance of the flipchart’s thorough review to improve message content and clarity, pictorial illustrations, cultural appropriateness and sensitivity. He stressed that the unifying guide will simplify health education processes while enhancing the knowledge and delivery skills of frontline workers.
Central to the discussions was the adaptation of the Integrated Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent, and Elderly Health and Nutrition (RMNCAEH+N) Flipchart for use across Ogun State’s health facilities. The flipchart is designed as a comprehensive resource that merges multiple social and behaviour change (SBC) communication tools into one standardised format, aimed at guiding healthcare workers in delivering consistent and accurate health information to clients.
The workshop featured interactive group sessions where participants collectively reviewed and adapted the content of the flipchart to suit the specific needs of Ogun State’s health system. This collaborative process ensured that the material would be culturally relevant, easily understood, and effective in promoting behaviour change at the grassroots level. The session concluded with renewed commitment from all stakeholders to accelerate the rollout and use of the tool across PHCs in the State.
