The Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun state council, popularly known as Iwe Iroyin, situated along Oke Ilewo road in Abeokuta, marks its first ever 24-hour uninterrupted power supply.

The power supply is courtesy of a 12kw 48v/200a Solar Power System, and the Street Lights were donated by Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, the Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District.

The formal test run, presided over by its official commissioning slated for the 16th May, 2025, was held on Wednesday till Thursday, without any blinks to the power supply.

The elated members of the council, overjoyed with the latest development, laud the contribution of the senator to the uplifting of the council’s Secretariat.

Speaking with newsmen at the end of the 24-hour countdown, the Chairman of the council, Comrade Wale Olarenwaju, stated that the systemic turnaround of the Secretariat is a testament to his campaign promises, adding that more collaboration with well-meaning Nigerians will further put the pen profession in good light.

The official commissioning of the project is, however, fixed for the 16th of May, 2025, at the council Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta, beginning from 11am.
