Gov. Abiodun Commends Hon. Balogun Over 24 Multimillion-Naira People-Oriented Projects

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, for his commitment to improving the local government’s development.
This commendation follows the commissioning of 24 people-oriented projects across the council area, worth millions of naira, which spread across the 15 wards of the local government.
The project includes; Installation of solar-powered streetlights across Wards 1, 5, 11, 12, and 15, alongside 500 units of mini solar streetlights.
“Drilling of boreholes in Itoko, Onikoko, Nawarudeen Road, and Ijeja to provide clean water for residents”
” Renovation of public toilets in Sodeke, Itoku, and major markets like Kuto, Adire, and Ago Egun, and construction of a pedestrian bridge at Saje Kugba and rehabilitation of a collapsed bridge at Iporo Ake Sawmill”
Abiodun stated that Hon. Balogun has the highest scoring card among the other local governments, particularly in the aspect of arrangement and coordination.
Abiodun, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftancy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, urges Balogun to ensure that he executes more projects.
While speaking, Hon. Balogun noted that his administration has maximised internally generated revenue through digital innovations, such as computerisation of Certificates of Origin and POS-enabled collections.
He added that he has also keyed into the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme, paying bulk premiums for okada riders and other residents to ensure they receive medical attention during accidents without delays caused by police report procedures.
According to him: “This administration, on assumption of office, made it explicitly clear in our vision to create an enabling environment where all and sundry will have a robust business environment for the benefit of the people at the grassroots.
“Charity begins at home. We started by repairing the vandalised transformer to restore power to the local government secretariat and provided solar lights to enhance service delivery. We also introduced a ward intervention approach, engaging communities to identify and execute their priority projects.
“We keyed into the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme by paying bulk premiums for okada riders and other residents, ensuring they get medical attention during accidents without delays caused by police report procedures,” he added.
Balogun expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for evenly distributing state projects across Ogun’s three senatorial districts, adding that Abeokuta South is already benefiting from the governor’s developmental strides.
