FUNAAB Governing Council Praises PR Unit, Media for Projecting University’s Image
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has commended its Public Relations Unit and media practitioners for their efforts in promoting the university’s image.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, made this declaration at an interaction with the Public Relations Unit and media practitioners held on Wednesday at the school premises.
He stated that the university’s public image has improved significantly since the council’s inauguration in July 2024.
The Pro-Chancellor attributed this success to the efforts of the PR Unit headed by Mr Olasukanmi Olajide and other media practitioners in projecting the university’s achievements.
Oba Olabomi urged the PR Unit and media practitioners to be more dedicated, supportive, and resilient in promoting the university’s image, emphasising the need for more people to be aware of the university’s good works.
He emphasised the need for more people to know about the university’s good works, citing the Yoruba proverb “Yin ni, yin ni, keni lese omi ran,” which means that commendation is a spur to do more.
The Pro-Chancellor commended the university’s management, staff, and students for their focus on the university’s core principles of teaching, research, and community engagement. He also appreciated the Vice-Chancellor.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Kehinde, commended the PR Unit for its due diligence and the mainstream media outlets for their support.
He assured that the management would continue to do its best to improve the university’s image.

“We have to appreciate members of the Directorate of Public Relations and also the community. Also, the media in the state that have been assisting them, because you’ve been projecting the image of the university in a positive light”.
“Yes, we are trying our best at our end to ensure that we do the best for our students and we maintain the high standard of integrity, of excellence, of innovation, of global elements and of service, which are the core values of our university”.
In his own submission, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, urged the management to continue supporting the head of the PR Unit of the school.
He affirmed that the Head of the Unit, Mr Olajide Olasukanmi, has bridged the gap between town and gown, thereby ensuring that the image of the school is projected in positive ways.
