
Abdul Lateef& Sanni Foundation Empowers Pupils with Uniforms, Writing Materials, School Bags others
A non-governmental organisation, known as Abdul Lateef & Sanni Foundation, has distributed school Uniforms, bags, umbrellas, raincoats, lunch bags, and exercise books to all pupils of Muslim Model School in Ago Oko, Abeokuta.
The distribution was held on Wednesday at the school premises as part of its continued effort to give back to society.
The Foundation also supports the pupils’ extracurricular programmes such as creative work, tie and dye (Adire), Sewing and knitting, providing materials needed for the pupils.
The school was said to have been the only primary school in Ogun to be engaged in such extracurricular activities, all at the courtesy of Albul Lateef & Sanni Foundation.
Speaking at the event, the project manager of the Foundation, Mrs Adedayo Adebiyi, disclosed that the Foundation had adopted the school since 2017, and had given out infrastructure support to the school, while also introducing entrepreneurial skills for the pupils.
She further explained that the programme was introduced to schools to enhance the pupils’ learning skills, noting that the enrichment is the keen entrepreneur programmes.
Adebayo also highlighted the importance of giving back to society, especially in the area of empowering pupils’ education.
She said, “So this is one of the ways we can give back to the community, because the founder of the foundation is from this community, and it’s one of the ways is give back to this community to make sure that everybody has a level playing field in terms of education and they can have a better future for themselves.”
“So today we have over 500 writing materials shared with all the students in the school. We are giving them a set of exercise books for their learning, they have been given out school bags as well and umbrellas to cover themselves during the rainy season. And we also give out awards to the teachers to recognise their efforts and to appreciate them for the work they’re doing”.
In her keynote address, on the theme: The Importance of Celebrating Academic Excellence: Mrs A. A Dada, the Assistant Head Teacher, urges the pupils to focus on their education, adding that if they put effort, they will be recognised and awarded.
She cited Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the best example for hard results, adding that she didn’t allow her background to define her.
Dada posited that education is one of the most important keys to success.
“When we celebrate academic excellence, we are saying hard work matters, knowledge is valuable, and learning opens doors to a great future”.
In his own submission, the Executive Secretary of Abeokuta North Local Government, Chief Oluwole Ayorinde, commended the foundation for its timely intervention for the pupils.
Ayorinde called on other well-meaning Nigerians and organisations, such as Abdul Lateef and Sanni Foundation, to join forces in ensuring pupils are provided with the needed educational materials to prevent them from dropping out of school.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Abdul Kabir Yunus School Board Management (SBM) praised the foundation for its unrelenting support for the school, saying that it has prevented out-of-school children in the community.
Highlights of the event were prizes given to the best students across the classes of the school from 1st position to 3rd position. The foundation also awarded the teachers for their commitment.
