Yuletide: Olalekan Jiboku Donates Rice To Residents In Abeokuta South

In the spirit of New Year celebrations, Ogun State House of Assembly aspirant Hon. Olalekan Jiboku popularly known as (JIBSON) has begun distribution of food items to residents of Abeokuta South.
Jiboku, who is vying to represent Abeokuta South II State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly, said the gesture was part of his commitment to identifying with the people at the grassroots, especially during the festive season
According to him, the gesture was not politically motivated but borne out of a genuine desire to give back to society and support vulnerable members of the community amid prevailing economic challenges.
Jiboku emphasized that his aspiration to represent the people at the Ogun State House of Assembly is anchored on people-oriented policies, effective representation and inclusive development that will positively impact lives at the grassroots.
He also urged residents to use the festive period to promote peace, love and unity, noting that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of harmony and mutual understanding.
He wished everyone prosperous and peaceful New Year, expressing optimism that with faith, unity and collective effort, Ogun State and Nigeria will witness greater progress in the coming year.

Ogun @ 50: Abeokuta South Hosts Colourful Carnival as Balogun Pledges More People-Centred Projects

As Ogun State marks its Golden Jubilee, Abeokuta South Local Government on Friday staged a spectacular carnival to celebrate the historic milestone, with the Chairman, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez (BOA), reaffirming his administration’s commitment to delivering more people-oriented projects.
The celebration featured a vibrant cultural carnival and road show that filled the major streets of Abeokuta South with colour, music, and excitement, drawing residents, party leaders, and cultural groups into a joyful display of unity and heritage.
Speaking at a reception held at the Skating Ground, Panseke, Abeokuta, Hon. Balogun described the carnival as a strong expression of Ogun State’s rich cultural identity of Abeokuta South Local Government.
He commended the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun for steering the state on the path of growth and development.
Reaffirming his administration’s focus on grassroots development, the Chairman noted that 2025 recorded significant infrastructural achievements across the local government, adding that residents should expect even more in 2026.
“Ogun State at 50 represents resilience, unity and sustained development. By the grace of God, we will celebrate the 60th, 70th, 80th anniversaries and beyond,” he said.
Hon. Balogun assured residents that the infrastructural improvements witnessed in the past year were only the beginning.
“What our people saw last year is just the tip of the iceberg. We have installed streetlights, rehabilitated public toilets, and sunk boreholes across major markets and communities. This year, we are rolling out more development projects, including the rehabilitation of the Madojitimi–Asero Road,” he added.
He reiterated that his administration’s mantra, “Everyone Matters,” remains central to his programmes, stressing that the welfare of residents will continue to guide governance in the local government.
One of the major highlights of the celebration was the formal acceptance of popular ace broadcaster Ayinla Egba into the All Progressives Congress (APC). The event also featured a colourful procession that moved from the Abeokuta South Local Government Secretariat through Ake, Sapon and Omida, before culminating at the Skating Ground, Panseke, where cultural displays, live performances and music thrilled attendees.
Dignitaries at the carnival included former and current party leaders in Abeokuta South led by Chief Lemboye, Chief Henry Fagbenro, Hon. Olufemi Ilori, Hon. Wasiu Igbalaye (Member representing Abeokuta South Constituency II), Hon. Lukmon Atobatele (Member representing Abeokuta South Constituency I), Hon. Bukola Olopade, Director-General of Sports, Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni, Iyaloja general, among other political and community leaders.

The National Union of Market Traders Employers of Nigeria (NUMTEN), Ogun State Chapter, has congratulated the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, on the occasion of the state’s Golden Jubilee celebration.
This is contained in congratulatory message by the Secretary of the association, Mr Kazeem Tajudeen of the union, NUMTEN described the 50th anniversary of Ogun State as a historic milestone and an opportunity to reflect on the progress recorded under the current administration.
The union commended Governor Abiodun for what it described as remarkable achievements driven by purposeful leadership and divine guidance.
According to NUMTEN, the governor’s people-oriented policies and projects, which have been executed and commissioned across the three senatorial districts of the state, clearly demonstrate his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and ensuring balanced development.
NUMTEN noted that the administration’s focus on infrastructure, economic growth, and improved welfare has had a positive impact on traders and the general populace, fostering hope and prosperity across the state.
The union further expressed pride in the governor’s dedication to the growth and development of Ogun State, stating that his leadership has continued to inspire confidence among citizens at a critical period in the state’s history.
“As Ogun State marks 50 years of creation, NUMTEN acknowledged Governor Abiodun’s contributions to the state’s advancement and reiterated its appreciation for his efforts in steering the state towards sustainable progress”.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said that southeast votes will not be wasted on sentiments again, declaring that the Southeast will vote massively for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi state in the 2027 general election.
He insisted that the region’s interests are better secured through strategy, unity and constructive engagement rather than sentiments.
Umahi made the assertion on Tuesday at his country home in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, while receiving various political, religious and community groups who paid him a Christmas homage.
Addressing the gathering, the former Ebonyi State governor said the Southeast has no reason to deceive itself about its political choices, stressing that President Tinubu has demonstrated commitment to the development of the region through major infrastructure projects.
“You ask me what the President has done for the Southeast, and I will tell you what he has done for the Southeast,” Umahi said.
Enumerating various ongoing federal projects as evidence of inclusion of the region Umahi declared, “We are talking about real projects, not social media sentiments.”
He listed the Second Niger Bridge, the Enugu–Onitsha (Nnewi) Road, the Owerri–Aba Road, and other major highways across the region as tangible achievements of the Tinubu administration, describing them as the “real Biafra” the people should focus on.
“The road to Onitsha is Biafra. The Second Niger Bridge is Biafra. These are the Biafra we are looking for — not the Biafra of sentiments or social media,” he said.
Umahi emphasized that Nigeria is built on a tripod and warned against any action that would weaken one leg of the nation.
He noted that the Southeast has been marginalized historically but argued that such marginalization can only be addressed through wisdom, political strategy and national engagement.
“We can never win by sentiments. We can never win by hate. We can only win by strategy.When it is our turn to become President, we must be wise enough to position ourselves.”
The minister called on Southeast people across the country to obey the laws and cultures of their host communities, urging them to remain humble, courageous and law-abiding wherever they reside.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us. Nobody should intimidate us, but we must also respect the culture and laws of wherever we find ourselves,” he added.
Umahi assured his visitors that the Southeast is now more included at the federal level and urged the region to reciprocate the current administration’s gestures with massive electoral support.
“Our votes will not be wasted on sentiments again. The Southeast will be strategic, and the Southeast will vote massively for President Tinubu,” he declared.
