President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security agencies, ensuring they are well-equipped to tackle emerging security challenges.

Tinubu stated this today during his official declaration of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO) held at H3 Events Centre at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta on Monday.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized his administration’s dedication to enhancing the Nigerian Police Force’s institutional capacity.

The President outlined plans to bridge security and infrastructural equipment gaps through a comprehensive program, including renovating police barracks, improving mobility, and upgrading essential combat equipment.

He also pledged to provide financial incentives to motivate security personnel and encourage community collaboration in policing.

“We will continue to collaborate with the police leadership to provide financial incentives to motivate officers and all security personnel to perform at their highest levels”.

“We remain committed to supporting them in their crucial work of keeping Nigeria Safe and united. While the police force is constitutionally empowered to maintain internal security and protect lives and properties, it is important to understand that security is a shared responsibility. Communities and citizens must actively collaborate with the police to foster a safer society”.

Also speaking, the Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun also advocated for a policing system that engages with local communities, upholds human rights, and prioritizes transparency.

Abiodun pledged his support for security initiatives in the state, including providing e-bikes and drones to enhance security mobility and surveillance.

Speaking at the conference, on the theme “Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing,” he disclosed that the theme aimed to promote innovation, collaboration, and best practices in policing.

Egbetokun noted that the theme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s security vision and the police force’s determination to cultivate a professionally competent and intelligence-driven force.

Egbetokun announced plans to reduce crime rates by 50% in 2025 and to implement a comprehensive Action Plan to achieve this goal. He also highlighted the launch of the Nigeria Police Youth Summit in 2024, aimed at bridging the gap between law enforcement and the younger generation.
