Reconciliation: Ogun NUJ Federated Chapel Members Reconcile, Sets Election

The Federated Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Chapter on Thursday, August 17, ended factional disputes among themselves, embracing unity and coexistence for the upcoming executive election.

The chapel’s leadership recognized the importance of addressing internal challenges and differences among members; hence a reconciliation meeting where grievances were discussed and common goals were identified.

This new dawn in the Ogun State Federated Chapel underscores the commitment of the Chapel to uphold journalistic principles while fostering a harmonious community.

Alongside the reconciliation, preparations are underway for the election of executives, a crucial opportunity for members to elect new leaders who will advocate for members’ rights and welfare, as well as steer the chapel’s activities.

Convened by Mr. Sina Oduntan, the meeting stressed the significance of unity among members.

He emphasized that qualified individuals would enjoy full membership privileges, including the right to vote and be voted for.

In the discussions, the Editor of StarTrend Int’l magazine, Elhadj AbuSatar Hamed highlighted the chapel’s freedom to determine news story usage and its spread within and outside Ogun State.

He noted that the chapel has contributed immensely to the success story of the past and present government in Ogun State through the constant usage of government activities in members’ magazines, both hardcopy and online.

The veteran journalist however lamented that the chapel is not well appreciated by the Ogun State government.

Contributing, the Editor of Achievers Magazine Mr. Yomi Ogunsanu identified divisive factors related to the past elections within the chapel.

Ogunsanu however called for open campaigning and peaceful dispute resolution, envisioning a new era of cooperation.

While appreciating the efforts of Mr. Oduntan in converging the peace meeting Prince Juwon Opayemi calls for love and understanding among members.

In his own, the Editor of Prestige Newspaper, Mr. Dada Olanipekun appealed for unity among members, recognizing the necessity of collective progress and respect for the incoming Executives.

Mr. Michael Ogunsiji while soliciting for an enduring peaceful coexistence among members of the chapel urged them to get copies of the new constitution of the NUJ, and study it properly.

To streamline proceedings, a four-man committee was appointed to collaborate with the Ogun State NUJ Council Chairman for efficient election arrangements.
