Quarry Stakeholders Protest Outrageous Increment Of Granite

Quarry stakeholders on Wednesday protested an increment in the price of granite in Abeokuta, Ishara, and others.

It was gathered that the quarry product which was at N5,200 now sells at N8,500, with a difference margin of N3,300.

Against the dictate of other quarries in the state, the Abeokuta, Ishara, and Remo quarries of state were reported to have hiked the price of the commodity.

Speaking with our reporter, the Chairman of Nigerian Union of Mine Workers (NUMW) Ogun State, Alhaji Fasiu Alao explained that the protest is to let the Chinese men at the quarry know that the quarry product sellers, haulers, and transporters are displeased with the sudden increment in the price of granite.

The chairman who described the increment as “outrageous” explained further that if there would be any form of increment, then it should be gradual and reasonable.
