Professionals Deserve Equitable Pay for Quality Service - NITP, TOPREC

The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners,(NITP) and Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria (TOPREC) have called on stakeholders to ensure that professionals are rightly compensated according to the service delivered.

This was declared by the National President of NITP Tpl. Nathaniel Atebije and TOPREC President Isyaku Kura at the opening of the remark of the 25th edition of the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programm (MCPDP 2024) with the theme: Building Capacity for Change Management and Regional Compensation in Urban and Regional Planning Practice, held in Abeokuta the state capital.

In his opening remark the National President of NITP, Tpl. Nathaniel Atebije stated that securing appropriate fees for service rendered is essential to the sustainability and growth of the professional community.

He added that it is pertinent that stakeholders ensure that professionals are rightly compensated according to their service delivered.

He called on members to uphold standards that ensure fairness, transparency, and value in all their professional engagement.

“The issue of securing appropriate fees for services rendered speaks directly to the sustainability and growth of our professional community”.

Corroborating, the National President of TOPREC Isyaku Kura also argued that the profession is among the few professions that are concerned with the total welfare of mankind.

He posited that Planning professionals across sectors deserve salaries and benefits that reflect their expertise, responsibilities, and impact, demanding fair compensation for the vital work done by planners.

MCPDP chairman Tpl. Prof.Adamu Ahmed urged the members to utilize the opportunity of the network and learn new skills that will enhance their professional system.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development in Ogun State, Tunji Odunlami, emphasized the crucial role of town planners in government initiatives to ensure the creation of sustainable human living environments conducive to living, working, and raising families.

The program was declared open by the Hon. Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development Hon. Tunji Odunlami, the program has no less than 1,000 registered members across the country.
