PCRC Strengthens Ties with Security Agencies in Ogun, Holds Seminar on Rule of Law

The Nigeria Police Force – Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the rule of law and enhancing security architecture in Ogun State.

PCRC emphasised the need for Nigerians to understand what is just and understand their rights under the rule of law.

This came as part of reflection at the 2 days 2025 Ogun State PCRC Leadership Retreat and seminar kickstarted on Tuesday in Igbesa Ota, LArea of Ado Odo Ota Local Government in Ogun state.

At the recent training session, PCRC members were educated on the penal code, police act, and criminal code, empowering them to better serve and support law enforcement agencies.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after his remark, the Ogun state Chairman of PCRC, Venerable Dr Kunle Samson Popoola, disclosed that members were trained to comprehend the intricacies of the law, enabling them to provide informed support to the police and defend them when necessary.

Popoola added that PCRC is service-oriented in nature, focusing on supporting the police in upholding and enforcing the law while also collaborating with other security agencies.

He posited that the presence of various security agents at the training session demonstrates the PCRC’s growing acceptability and cooperation with law enforcement agencies in Ogun State.

He said “By continuing to learn, unlearn, and relearn, the PCRC aims to remain relevant and effective in supporting the security architecture in Ogun State”

“We are doing our best to support the rule of law, we have been trained on the penal code, police act and criminal code

It is a service-oriented group, and we are doing our best to support the security architecture”.

” Our core service duty is centred around police who are upholding the law and enforcing the law. The idea is that members of PCRC should also be brought up in a that they understand the law, and by understanding the law, they will be in a better position to render services they are meant to render and also be iaon very informed, positive the police or defend the police when the needs arise”.

“Seeing all the security agents present here today is a testament to our acceptability, especially in Ogun state, and when you look at the numbers of our members coming from nooks and crannies of Ogun State to be part of the training, I’m elated and proud. I want to urge that we should just continue on the trajectory that we are going, knowing fully well that we need to continue to learn, unlearn and relearn certain things that will make us relevant in society”.

In the same development, the Commissioner for Police Ogun State CP Lanre Ogunlowo commended the PCRC for the 2025 leadership Retreat/Seminar and admonished the members to better reorientate themselves for good service to the nation with integrity.

CP, who was represented by the Igbesa Ota Area Commandant ACP Tanarubo Folashade, urged the PCRC members to always relate with their DPOs effectively, noting they are the eyes of police in their communities.

She affirmed that members of the PCRC are people with high integrity, and they should be accommodated for effective community policing.

Folashade submitted her remarks by adding a suffix to the PCRC slogan thereby making it ” Service to the Nation with integrity”

She said, “Gone are those days when people at PCRC members cannot be trusted, but now they are people of high integrity, they must be accommodated for effective community policing, and they can serve as the eyes of each DPO in their respective policing communities”.

On this note, I want you to add this to your slogan, “service to the nation with integrity”, and make sure that you relate this with your national president as the newly adopted slogan for the PCRC by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police.

Meanwhile, the keynote speaker at the workshop OC Legal, Henry Obiazi, concluded that there is no ignorance of the law, urging the members of the general public to strictly adhere to the Rule of law in all their dealings.

Obiazi insisted that PCRC members must strictly adhere to the Rule of Law and study it like a bible.

He commended the PCRC for bridging the gap between the police and the community for effective security architecture.

Other highlights of the event were presentations of meritorious and leadership awards to distinguished personalities

Presents at the retreat were; Mrs Olajumoke Johnson Registrar Ogitech, Deputy Comptroller of Customs A.I., Ayam, represented the Ogun 2 Area Command Comptroller Alade, and Ojeku Ojetunj, represented the TRACE Commander and others.
