Ogun Reps Member, Hon. Afuape, Empowers Constituents with Cash Tricycles, Motorcycles, Freezers, others

In a continued effort to alleviate poverty in the country and give back to his constituents, the House of Representatives member, representing Abeokuta South federal Constituency, Ogun State, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, has empowered thousands of his constituents.

The mega-empowerment held on Tuesday at the Ake Pavilion, Abeokuta have many of the constituents going home with tricycles, Motorcycles, freezers, Make-up kits, tools, grinding machines, among others.

Afuape, popularly known as (Afoo), declared that many of the empowerment still underway, giving them positive hope about his representatives.

He appreciated all his constituents for their unwavering support, assuring that continue to build a brighter future that benefits all.

Earlier, at his stakeholders’ engagement held at the Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta, Afuape emphasised readiness to achieve more laudable projects in his constituency.

He disclosed that he would always welcome constructive criticism from his constituents to do more for their wishes and ensure good representation.

Reeling put his achievements, Afuape emphasised that he had ensured to put his constituency on the map through meaningful legislative contributions, which include;

1. A Bill for an Act to Establish the National Farm Settlement Agency and for Matters.

2. A Bill for an Act to Amend the Nigeria Police Act of 2020 and for Related Matters.

3. National Council For Arts and Culture (Amendment) Bill 2074

4. National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAICON) (Amendment) Bill 2024

On the Motions; Afuape disclosed that he had also moved some motions, which include;

1. Call on the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to Address Problems confronting Electricity Consumers

2. Call to Revive and Promote the Traditional Fabrics of Adire/Kampala to Boost the Nation’s Cultural Heritage

3. Installation of Appropriate Metering System by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL)

Disclosing his Project Facilitations and Interventions achievements,

He said, “aside from the primary responsibility of a legislator, we have within just a year, the 2024 budget, facilitated and implemented impactful projects and interventions across key sectors, including education, security, Infrastructure, power, job facilitation, youth development, empowerment programmes, and others”.

“We firmly believe that education is the bedrock of progress. Through the Afolabi Moruf Afuape Education Support Initiative, we have assisted indigent students with educational materials and scholarships. Also, we have continued to organise summer classes to support their academic pursuits”

Some of Afuape’s efforts include: Annual AMA free Summer Coaching Classes (3 editions so far).

1. Construction of A block of 6 classrooms with furniture at St. John’s High School, Kuto, Abeokuta.

2. Construction of A block of 3 classrooms with a solar-powered borehole and furniture at Methodist Primary School, Ogbe, Abeokuta.

3. Ongoing renovation of A-2 block of 6 classrooms at Ijaye Community Primary School, Oke Odo, Gbangba, Abeokuta and others.

Affirming his commitment to the stakeholders’ engagement, Afuape emphasised that he preferred to invest in long-lasting legacy projects, such as school and youth empowerment, rather than short-lived projects.
