
Ogun Council Boss, Hon. Balogun Presents 9.8billion For 2025 Budgets
The Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Ogun State, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez (BOA), has presented the 2025 proposed budget to the Legislative Council of the Local Government led by the House Leader, Hon. Jamiu Ogundairo.
The presentation of the budget, which took place on Wednesday at the Legislative Chamber of the Abeokuta South Local Government, had in attendance all councillors in the local government and career officers.
In his presentation, the Chairman, Hon. Balogun disclosed the 2025 proposed budget was carefully analyzed with acceptable global practices regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also in line with the ISEYA mantra of Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State.
Balogun pointed out that the vision is highly challenging but achievable with the full support and cooperation of the Legislative Council, community leaders and the good people of Abeokuta South Local Government.
He also submitted that the increase in the 2025 budget was influenced by several factors, which include the removal of subsidies on oil; the consequential adjustment in the minimum wage and the anticipated promotion and yearly incremental salary awards coupled with growing demands for dividends of democracy regarding programs and projects.
The total expenditure of the proposed budget was Nine billion Eight hundred and ninety-four million, eleven thousand thirty-two-naira eighty-four kobo. (9,894,011,092.84k)
While the sum of Four billion and ninety-three million, eight hundred and eleven thousand thirty-two-naira eighty-four kobo only was proposed for Consolidate Revenue Charges (CRFC), corresponding 48.45%.
Followed by Capital Expenditure was proposed for Two-billion billion, One hundred and forty-six million, Two hundred thousand naira (2,146, 200,000.00) corresponding (21.69%) ), majorly for physical projects that will impact positive changes in the lives of the people of Abeokuta South Local Government
For the running cost of day-to-day activities, a sum of One billion, One hundred and seventy-seven million, five hundred and fifty thousand nairas only was proposed (1,177,550,000), corresponding to 11.90%.
The sum of One billion seven hundred and seventy-six million, six hundred hundred and fifteen thousand one hundred and twenty-nine naira forty-two kobo was earmarked for Salaries and Allowances, corresponding 17.95%.
Balogun admonished the Legislators to look into the proposed budget with utmost priorities, urging them to join forces in achieving goals that create a better future for themselves and generations to come.
Responding, the Leader of the House, Hon. Jamiu Ogundairo, declared that the Legislative House is ready to support Balogun’s administrative policies and programmes that targeted at alleviating poverty, improving security, and promoting economic as well as social welfare and development of the people.
He reminded the Chairman that a larger number of the constituents are going through a difficult time, urging him to provide quick and sustainable relief and to restore the hope of Abeokuta South Local Government constituents.
“The budget laid before us today should not be seen as a mere financial document, but a reflection of our collective resolve to address the most critical needs of our long-suffering indigenes and residents. To promote economic growth, and ensure security and peaceful coexistence in this local government, current hardship”.
Ogundairo concluded by assuring the Chairman that the Legislative Council was determined to work assiduously for the success of his administration.
