Oddity:Late Oloko of Orile Oko's Body Seized by Own Son Amidst Family Feud

…Royal Family, Chiefs, Seek Govt Intervention for Recovery of Body from King’s Son

In a tragic turnaround event, the remains body of the late Oloko of Orile Oko in Remo North, Oba Elijah Agboola Shogbayi has been reportedly forcefully seized by the eldest son, Shina Shogbayi due to a cold war between him and the late monarch.

The family members and traditional council of chiefs jointly cried out for government intervention in recovering the corpse of the late monarch from the son.

The incident became a matter public when Shina Shogbayi alleged to have forcefully seized the corpse of the late monarch, on 19th of December 2024, when the council of chiefs was conveying the late monarch from Abeokuta to Orile Oko town in Remo North for burial rites.

Shina Shogbayi was said to have been in a cold war with the late monarch, he was also alleged to contested the Obas stool with his father before he ascended the throne as Oloko of Orile Oko.

FortressNews went to Orile Oko for proper investigation on the matter, meeting with Mr. Bidemi Ogunseye who claimed to be Shina Shogbayi’s uncle and a brother to the late Oba Elijah Agboola Shogbayi narrated that, Shina led a ambush with some uniform men suspected to be some police officer and jointly seized the remains body of the late monarch.

Ogunseye narrated the corpse was moving from Abeokuta to Orile Oko, and suddenly they were stopped by Shina’s led group shooting sporadically and taking the body away forcefully, with no traces of its whereabouts.

He disclosed that there had been a cold war between Shina and the late monarch when Shina contested for the Oloko stool with his biological father who happens to be the late monarch and he was defeated by the selection process.

He alleged that Shina Shogbayi has been going back and forth to disrupt the peace and progress of Orile Oko since the late monarch ascended the throne.

According to him ” Shina started the trouble when he competed for the throne with Our late Oba who eventually defeated him to ascend the throne, he took the late monarch to the court of law in Sagamu state high court to challenge his father’s victory over him”.

“It was on the 19th of December that the late monarch joined his ancestors after a brief illness, and was taken to a hospital in Abeokuta for proper care, but before he got to the hospital he gave up the ghost”

“On our way to Orile Oko on that very day, I called on Lisa to announce the death to him, and also Shina’s brother was with us, including the last born of the family, I suspect that Shina was called by his younger brother who revealed our movement to him”.

“Before the incident, Shina had been threatening to kill every one of us because he lost the stool to his father. Before Baba was the favorite of all the family and he was presented to our family head (Olori Ebi) Barr. Niyi Ogunwale as the rightful choice of the family”

“After installation which we have all organs of government present and involved, Shina still went ahead to court to challenge his father’s victory on the throne, which saw a level playgrounds”.

“We want the remains of our King to be returned to us, without anything missing from Shina Shogbayi, and want the government to interfere, he has been threatening to kill all of us if we try to stop, he is a police officer and the CP must call him to caution”.

In the same development, the Losi of Orile Oko chief Shodiya Shodunke also corroborated, he explained that he was on the bus conveying the remaining body of the monarch when Shina ambushed them and started shooting sporadically with other uniform men before they dragged the body and taken it away from them.

He alleged that money phone and the necessary materials were carted away.

Chief Shodunke disclosed that the family members and chiefs want to see the corpse, he also insisted that before another action they need to meet with Lisa before any action can be taken.

Meanwhile, Prince Shogbayi Olafuyi called on the state government, and Police to help recover the remains body of his father from his brother, expressing dissatisfaction of the family with his brother’s action.
