NANS Accuse Tinubu OverTuition fee Hike, Laments Empty Promises
In a continued incesant increament of tuition fee, a cross Universities and Polytechnic in Nigeria, the National Association Of Nigeria Students (NANS), has appealed to the federal and the state government over the increment of tuition fee, lamenting over the undercapert promise of the Presidents.
The Deputy Senate President, Com. Ekundina Olusegun made the appeal to the government during a capacity building held at the Cultural Center Abeokuta, noting that it is pertinent ti look into the economy situation of the country before tuition fee hike.
He posited that increment of tuition fee should not be in this hardship economic.
He said “No fewer than 26,000 of Nigerian students are struggling to pay their school fees while some other bills are enforce by the school management on them”.
Ekundina pointed out the distribution of buses to institutions as promised by the president are yet to be seen, adding it was part of the promises made by Tinubu led administration during campaign.
He also lamented over non availability of hostels, calling on federal government and ststes to provide enough school hostel for the student in order to make education comfortable for them in their various institutions.
“Education should be at least be affordable not to inconvenient the students and those that are still willing to study”
“Increment in school fees shouldn’t be in this hardship economy” says Olusegun.
Responding, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical centre, Prof. Musa Olomu, told Nigerian youth and students to prioritize education in any circumstances.
Olomu assured that there will a maxi employment opportunity for the qualified youth at medical department whenever an opportunity comes.
” I can assure you that once the university of federal medical centre is approve at least half of the youth will surely benefit from it”.
He disclosed that youth should engage themselves in academic research so as to continue to be relevant and be prominent in the society.
