The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Ogun State is taking a groundbreaking step to ensure the transparency and credibility of Local Government elections has established a central Control Room to monitor and document election results in real-time, which is a significant departure from the traditional methods used in the state.

The initiative aims to address the long-standing concerns about the integrity of LG elections, where results were often manipulated or dictated by those in power.

“The Control Room will serve as a hub for real-time monitoring and verification of election results, with agents stationed in all 236 wards across the state who will forward scanned copies of results from each polling unit to a dedicated WhatsApp number or email address, allowing for immediate documentation and comparison with the results announced by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC)”.

The system is to ensure transparency, efficiency, and accuracy in documenting, cross-checking, and verifying results promptly.

According to IPAC Chairman Hon. It Abayomi Sanyaolu, “the Control Room will be a vital tool for safeguarding the integrity of the election process”.

“The establishment of this central Control Room by IPAC Ogun, on behalf of the masses and political parties in Ogun State, will have a profound impact on the authenticity of the election results.

“Any final results announced by OGSIEC that do not align with those documented by the Control Room will not be accepted.”
