LG Poll: Our Prayer is Outright Removal of Administrative Fees, IPAC to OGISIEC

After a second day of deliberations with the Ogun State House of Assembly, the Inter-party Advisory Council led by its chairman comrade Hon Sanyaolu Abayomi appealed to the House of Assembly to intervene in the current impasse between the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission OGSIEC and IPAC over administrative fees.
The IPAC demanded for Outright withdrawal of Administrative Fees imposed on political parties.
This was said today during a meeting with the leadership of the Ogun House of Assembly led by the speaker Rt, Hon Elemide, the Majority leader and Minority leader, and other members of the house.
Members of the House of Assembly including the Minority leader Hon. Lukman Adeleye, the Chairman House committee on OGSIEC Hon. Dickson Awolaja, and Hon. Yusuf Amosu supported the prayers of IPAC saying the electoral act of the State needs to be reviewed as very many parts of the law are now obsolete and asked the OGSIEC to review and remove said administrative fees.
The Ogun State House of Assembly charged the Management of the State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) to adhere strictly to its electoral guidelines in the November 16th Local Government election in the State.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, gave the charge today during an interface between OGSIEC and the State Inter-party Advisory Council ( IPAC) led by its Chairman, Comrade Sanyaolu Abayomi at the instance of the State House of Assembly.
The Speaker in the company of his colleague-lawmakers, enjoined the management of OGSIEC to ensure that all the processes leading to the election were by the nation’s constitution and the State electoral act, assuring that the Assembly was ready to collaborate with the Commission to ensure a free and fair election.
Also contributing, the Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye and a member representing Ewekoro State Constituency, Yusuf Amosun, challenged the Commission to ensure that all the processes leading to the election follow the nation’s constitution to prevent avoidable litigation before, during, and after the election.
They noted that the Assembly was ready to assist in amending the State electoral law if the need arises.
Responding on behalf of the Commission, the Commissioner 1 in charge of Operations, Mr. Tunji Akonni, said that the Commission had continued to interface with all stakeholders including IPAC in the course of the election process, with OGSIEC Electoral Guidelines approved by the House, in line with the State electoral law.
