The Ogun state People Democratic Party PDP has called on stakeholders in Ogun state to see into the affairs of state local government, following the trending accusation of Hon. Wale Adebayo a serving Local Government Chairman in Ogun State.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the party Publicity Secretary, Akinloye Bankole on Tuesday.

The statement stated that Hon. ‘Wale Adedayo, also known in the political circle as Babalawo finally decided to heed the patriotic and persistent calls of the gods to speak out and shame the devil as represented here by the governor of Ogun state.

Akinloye noted that in Babalawo’s now famous letter seeking the “fatherly” intervention of a leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and a former governor of the state, Chief Segun Osoba to prevail on Gov. Abiodun to stop further diversion of local government monies.

He added that the Ogun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has always believed, that the outburst of the Ijebu East Local government “Chief Executive”, a prominent player, and a major stakeholder from the government circle has vindicated our party’s position, yet again on the deliberate clampdown on local administration since the controversial inception of APC government in Ogun state.

He posited that Gov. Abiodun has not just rendered local government administration impotent in the state since inception in 2019, accusing him of stealing anything on sight.

Part of the statement reads” hee has flagrantly violated the constitutional provisions of the federal republic on local government (as amended)”.

“By now, we expect democratic institutions; the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission ICPC, the Economic and Financial Corruption Commission, EFCC, the Department of State Security, DSS, and most importantly, the Ogun State House of Assembly to swing into action by conducting a full-scale investigation into the financial status of LG in Ogun state”.

“We wish to remind the general public that we have always invited the attention of all discerning minds to the mindless looting of statutory Monthly Federal Allocation and all other financial resources disbursed to the Ogun state by the Former President, General Muhammadu Buhari and all the palliative released to Local Governments during the last pandemic”.

“Babalawo has just confirmed that more than N10 billion disappeared into Abiodun’s private vaults. What more does the Ogun state House of Assembly need to carry out its constitutional roles of making laws for good governance and promoting the general well-being of the people, if truly it is not an accomplice in this fraud against the good people of the state?

“If necessary steps are not taken, it is correct to hold that the much talked about N5 billion, ecological funds and other palliative disbursed to various states to cushion the excruciating pains of the current economic hardship as being packaged by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would follow the same course of criminal looting”.

” It is a sad reality to hear and see that since the last charade called the local government election in 2021, it has been ZERO Federal Allocation to each local government. And those who should know like the same Babalawo, Chief Osoba, and of course, the State parliament remained silent.

The statement also accused Gov.Abiodun has not having 10% of the state’s Internally Generated Revenue since his inception to the government.

“The 10% of the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, which the Constitution also stipulated should go to the local governments has not been given since Abiodun got into office. Yet, everyone, except us kept quiet”

“It is now clear to every citizen of the state why anti-democratic elements such as Gov.Abiodun, in accord with the leadership of the Ogun State House of Assembly and indeed, the leadership of the APC are vehemently against local government autonomy which the good people of the state maximally enjoyed between 2003 and 2011 before the arrival of these rampaging vultures”.
