June 12: Gov. Abiodun Urges Nigerians To Remain Steadfast.

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has charged Nigerians to remain steadfast and trust the current democratic process in the country.
The Gov gave the charge during the Democracy Day Celebration prayers held at the family home of the winner of the June 12 1993 presidential elections Late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola in Gbagura Abeokuta.
Represented by his Deputy Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Gov Abiodun added that it was a thing of immense pleasure that Nigerians are celebrating 25 years of unbroken democracy in this country on a foundation laid by the late Abiola, appreciating the Govt for setting aside the day not just to honor his memory but also to celebrate democratic rule in Nigeria.
The Gov informed that as a government, his administration will continue to honor the legacy of the Late Abiola particularly as he was a prominent son of the state as well as not relenting in delivering the dividends of democracy to the good people of Ogun State
While appreciating the Govt at the Center for putting in place people-centered policies with the ultimate aim of achieving a better Nigeria, Abiodun called on everyone to continue to support the government and its organs stating only then will it succeed in taking the country to the projected heights.
Earlier In his sermon, Mufasir Agura, Alhaji Daud Toriola, described Abiola as food and drugs due to the role both played in the body system, saying though he has gone the lives he had touched while alive still speaks of his impact, while commending that the state government for playing a leading role in remembering the late business mogul and a philanthropist even before the Federal government started immortalizing him.
Speaking on behalf of the late Abiola’s families, Mr Ameen Abiola, appreciated everyone for coming annually to remember the late Abiola, especially the state government for its unflinching support and the recent renovation of the family house, while also thanking the federal government for declaring June 12 as democracy and to also honour the late Abiola, saying the gesture goes a long way in protecting the legacies left behind.
The highlight of the event was a prayer for the deceased, his family, the State, and the Country at large.
