…Launches ’50 Top Role Models in Ogun

Dada Olaonipekun, co-author of “50 Top Role Models in Ogun”, emphasized the importance of peaceful protest during the book’s launch on Wednesday.

He acknowledged the frustrations of Ogun State youths, citing joblessness and corruption, but urged them to express their grievances democratically and calmly.

Olaonipekun confessed that it is dire, but encouraged youths to voice their concerns peacefully, referencing the lessons learned from the #EndSARS protest at Lekki.

He advised against violent demonstrations, emphasizing the importance of calm and peaceful expression of rights.

In his book Titled “50 Top Role Models in Ogun, Olaonipekun noted that the book, now in its third edition, highlights individuals who have contributed to the state’s growth and development, including non-indigenes.

Earlier in his welcome address, Olaonipekun noted that he wrote the books to challenge many of his younger colleagues to write memoirs so that the coming generation to come, should be able to read more about what they have done.

“To those of our younger generation, we want to implore you to write developmental stories about humanity, and society, rather than what he said he said”.

He also affirmed that everyone featured in the books was due to their contribution and good impact made in their respective field.

Olaonipekun noted the book did not talk with only indigenes, but also looked at people who are based in Ogun and thwhore genuinely contributing to the growth and Development of Ogun state.

“The book is written to reflect humanity and community, I challenged you to write yours too, but we were also challenged by someone, that is Obasanjo, he challenged me when I was the chairman of ANA.”
