Gov. Abiodun Set Aside 5Bn to Cushion Economic Hardship

In a continued effort to cushion the current economic challenge in the country, the Ogun state governor Dapo Abiodun earmarked an N5 billion intervention fund across all sectors of the State to improve economic effects.

The state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun disclosed this on Wednesday during a press brief held at Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, the state capital

The governor admitted that his government was not insensitive to the challenges being faced by citizens of the state.

He also disclosed that his government is providing a minimum of 5 exercise books for all 850,000 students in both public primary and secondary schools.

Abidoun added that his government will commence offsetting the backlog of inherited deductions for civil servants in the state.

He said, “We are immediately committing N500M monthly payment towards outstanding deductions. It is noteworthy that we have continued to pay N10,000 transport allowance to all civil servants for the last 8 months”.

In the same development, Governor Abiodun assured that the state government will provide insurance health cover for over 70,00, including pregnant women, children, the elderly, market women, and other members of the informal sector.

His words “In this direction and through targeted interventions, we aim to address these challenges by implementing a series of phased initiatives aimed at alleviating these burdens on all our citizens.

“We will be providing a one-time N10,000 education support grant for at least 100,000 pupils in our public primary and secondary schools in the state.

“We will be providing insurance health cover for over 70,000 beneficiaries including pregnant women, children, the elderly, market women, and other members of the informal sector.

“More specifically, for pregnant women, under our Ibidero Scheme, we would be providing free prenatal care, an additional N5,000 per birth, and free post-natal care in our State Hospitals and Primary Health Care Centers across the State.

He said “This brings our total immediate interventions as a responsible State Government to about N5Bn across all sectors of the State economy.
