FG Inaugurates Community ICT Centre in Ogun, Sets For Commissioning of Other 30

The President of Nigeria, President Bola Hamed Tinubu, has urged the Nigerian youth to take advantage of technology innovation as an alternative means of job creation, noting that his administration is ready to create not less than a million job opportunities through technology.

This was disclosed by the Minster of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Olatunbosun Tijani, on Monday during the official commissioning of the Egba New City Community ICT Centre in Samewang Estate, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, to Commemorate the 38th Lisabi Day Festival.

The Minister stated that President Bola Tinubu, when he came on board, declared that he would spend all his effort and resources to create 1 million job opportunities through technology innovation, urging the youth to key into this opportunity.

Olatunbosun urged the youth to prioritise technology innovation as an alternative means of creating opportunities for themselves, noting that there is a strong shortage of workforce in the technology world.

He also noted that most of the developed countries have an ageing population, and they are not giving birth to kids, emphasising that Nigerians are an average of 16.9% of young people who are projected to be workforce not only in Nigeria.

He posited that is the reason why President Tinubu decided to put in resources to expose the Nigerian youth to technology so they can get meaningful jobs while also contributing meaningfully to the country’s economy.

He noted that the commissioning of the Community ICT Centre in Abeokuta would not just be a Centre, but it would be properly aminated whereby Egba youth can take courses while also creating job opportunities for themselves.

He also revealed that 30 of it will be will be commissioned in the next two months in Nigeria.

He said ” This centre you are seeing here is one of many, in the next two months we are going to launch about 30 of them. And for this one, we are not going to put them as a Centre, it is going to be properly animated, and we going to put all the necessary resources into it to ensure that our young people have courses to come take here and not just courses, we are also going to make sure that they access to job opportunities that we can connect them to”

He urged the youth not to be distracted, adding that there are not enough people to work in technology all over the world, declaring that technology is a paying job and instead of them thinking there is no job, they should take advantage of the technology”.

“I want to urge our youth not to be distracted because there are not enough people in technology all over the world, the minimum payment technology now is about 250k which I can bet none of many parents has gotten as their first salary, I want to urge our youth that technology is a paying job, and instead of them thinking that there is no job, they should take advantage of technology”.

Also speaking, the Senator representing the Yewa Senatorial District, Olamilekan Yayi, represented by Hon. Morakinyo Ogooluwa, Hon. Federal Commissioners for Public complain Commission disclosed that the library project was donated to Egba nation other to preserve the heritage and tradition Egbaland.

He concluded that the library is the best way to preserve the heritage and history of the Egba people, whereby whatever a teacher has taught the students in the school will be more validated in the library.
