Exclusive: Why I decided to bribe policemen with 1 million naira- suspected Ritualist

A suspected ritualist who was apprehended by the men of the Nigerian police force, attached to the Obalende division, Ifasoji Ayangbesan has disclosed that he wanted to bribe the police with a Sum of 1 million nairas following the directives of his lawyer.

Ifasoji who was on the wanted list of the Nigerian police over a case of ritual killing, disclosed this during a criminal parade that was held at the Ogun state police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta the state capital on Wednesday.

In an interview with the suspect by Fortress Newspaper, Ifasoji disclosed that he wanted to bribe the police with the sum of 1 million nairas, based on the directive of his lawyer after he was traced by the Nigeria police force attached to the Obalende division.

He narrated that he and 8 others who were already arrested and charged to the court killed and dismembered the body of one Oyindamola Adeyemi and shared the body parts of the victim.

Ifasoji disclosed that he bought the two legs of the victim to use for money ritual purposes that one of his colleagues told him that it is effective for money rituals.

“Oye is my friend and colleague, he told me that the money rituals are effective. Although he is on the run as well, I met him at Isiwo”.

“I decided to do the Osole when my friend Oye told me that I will have more money if I could use the Osole”.

When asked where he got the sum of 1 million nairas to bribe police

He narrated that after he was called by his daughter that policemen have come to his house for a search, he decided to take a step, that was how he met someone who introduced him to a lawyer, he added that the lawyer also told him that it is money matter that would cost 10million naira, and he went ahead to seek the help of people where he got the sum of 1million naira.

“I wanted to use the Osole for myself, I prepared by myself. I was called by my daughter that policemen were in my house when I travel to do labour for someone in Lagos”.

“A lawyer told me money matters, so I have to go and hustle for the money, when we got to the police they said it would cost 10 million, but I could get a sum of 1 million nairas”.

Ifasoji also disclosed that policemen turned down the money he offered to them when he got to the police station, and took his picture with money before he was transferred to Eleweran headquarters.

“After gotten to Police Station with the money, the police officer turned down my offers, and directed me to sit down and took pictures of myself with the money, there I was sent to Eleweren”.

“I appeal to the government to forgive and pardon me, such would repeat itself”.

Police reactions of Commissioner of Police CP Olanrewaju:

Ifasoji Ayangbesan has been a wanted over case of ritual killing in which he and 8others who have been earlier arrested and charged to court killed and dismembered the body of one Oyindamola Adeyemi.

The suspect shared the body parts of the victim which they used for rituals purpose.

Ifasoji bought the two legs of the victim and he has been on the run since then but was traced to his hideout at the Ijade Iloti area of Ijebu-Ode where he was arrested.

He offered the sum of 1 million t bribe the police at Obalende, but the officer rejected the money.

The commissioner of police Olarenwaju Oladimeji concluded that the beat has changed and the dancing step must follow suit. He added that it is time for criminals in Ogun state to relocate because Ogun in his watch will no longer be conducive for them.

He assured the law-abiding citizens, to rest assured of safety guaranteed at all times, while also seeking cooperation to jointly tackle criminals headlong.

Olarenwaju noted that the best way to do this is to give policemen useful information that will assist in their efforts to rid the state of crime.
