Emefiele, Bawa Suspension: Anti-Corruption Crusaders Commend PresidentTinubu, Calls To Extend Anti-Graft War To Malami, Sirika, Farouk, Others

The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC), leading a coalition of Anti-corruption crusade groups, has extended their profound commendation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for taking decisive action in suspending the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.
The groups then urged the President to include prominent figures such as the immediate past Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami; the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Hadi Sirika; the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Mrs. Saadiyya Umar Farouk, and various other top officials in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration who were allegedly involved in corrupt practices.
In a statement signed by the National Coordinator of the NDYC on behalf of the over 107-member Coalition of Anti-corruption Crusade groups, the Coalition noted that the “bold step showcases the President’s unwavering commitment to tackling corruption and upholding the principles of good governance.”
The groups said that they recognize that “the decision to suspend the CBN Governor and EFCC Chairman was made in the best interest of our nation and its citizens. It signifies a significant stride towards ensuring accountability, transparency, and the restoration of public trust in key institutions.
“We urge President Tinubu to ensure that the investigations into the alleged misconduct are conducted with the utmost thoroughness and impartiality. It is of paramount importance that due process is followed, and justice is served.
“This will not only set a strong precedent but also demonstrate the President’s dedication to establishing a fair and just society.
“Furthermore, we want to emphasize the urgent need for a comprehensive overhaul of the EFCC as a whole. Corruption has deeply permeated the system, compromising its effectiveness in combating economic crimes.
“We urge President Tinubu to seize this opportunity to initiate wide-ranging reforms within the EFCC, strengthen its internal mechanisms, and equip it with the necessary resources to carry out its mandate effectively.
“In light of these recent developments, we respectfully request that the President extends the scope of investigations to include prominent figures such as the immediate past Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Malami, the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Sirika, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Mrs. Saadiyya Umar Farouk, and various other officials allegedly involved in corrupt practices within President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
“We implore President Tinubu not to relent or be deterred in his fight against corruption. Corruption has been a major impediment to our country’s progress, hindering economic growth, exacerbating social inequality, and eroding public trust.
“By taking decisive action against corrupt practices, the President demonstrates his firm commitment to advancing Nigeria and ensuring a brighter future for all its citizens.
“Lastly, we strongly pledge our unflinching support to President Tinubu in his quest to rid our nation of corruption. We stand ready to collaborate with the government in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance.
“Together, we can build a Nigeria where justice prevails, where opportunities abound, and where the rule of law reigns supreme”, the groups said.

The Senate’s Ad hoc Committee investigating the collapse of the Safe School Initiative has summoned Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to appear before it on Tuesday next week.
The committee, chaired by Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, also plans to summon Ministers of Education and Defence, Tunji Alausa and Christopher Musa, as well as other stakeholders.
The committee aims to unravel issues surrounding the initiative’s implementation and ensure accountability, amid concerns over 1,680 school children kidnapped and 180 educational facilities attacked since 2014.
Kalu vowed to track funds allocated to the initiative, including $30 million mobilised between 2014 and 2021, and N144 billion recently released by the federal government.

The Ogun State Ministry of Justice hereby informs the public that it is expediting action on the prosecution of Ademola Abiodun, aka DJ Chicken, in relation to the vehicular incident of 1 November 2025.
On 1 November 2025, Mr Abiodun crashed into two motorcycles in Sagamu, Ogun State, seriously injuring a rider and a female passenger.
Mr Abiodun was unremorseful and attempted to leave the scene of the incident, which provoked an angry reaction from passersby who mobbed him.
At the time, the Ogun State Police Command initiated an investigation and review of the circumstances, prioritising the medical care, privacy, and recovery of the victims.
Yesterday, 23 November 2025, in Lekki, Lagos State, Mr Abiodun was again involved in another road crash.
This lone car incident almost harmed pedestrians, but for good fortune and the pedestrians’ quick reflexes.
Yesterday’s incident is reportedly the third road crash in two months involving Mr Abiodun at the wheel.
While it may be reasonable to allow crash victims to get compensation from persons who have driven recklessly and to resolve road traffic collisions as a civil wrong, some road users are a special danger to society and should be held to account under criminal law. Mr Abiodun is one such person.
At least two of the crashes were documented in real-time video coverage and are self-evident. Mr Abiodun’s heedless return to the wheel with no greater care just three weeks after makes it imperative that the State must intervene to protect the public – especially as there is an organic outcry against his continued driving.
Accordingly, the Attorney-General and Honourable Commissioner for Justice – Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN – has directed relevant officers to expedite action on the pending crash case from Sagamu for prompt arraignment.
The Office of the Attorney-General is working closely with the Police to achieve this outcome.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has described the attack on a church in Kwara State, where three worshipers were killed and others abducted by bandits, as dastardly and condemnable.
Speaker Abbas said the attack is not only daring but also unfortunate, charging security forces to step up their game following recent attacks on soft targets in parts of the country.
Bandits had on Tuesday attacked worshippers at a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, with three of the members confirmed killed and an unknown number kidnapped.
While stating that criminals and criminality have no place in Nigeria, Speaker Abbas said the National Assembly will continue to prioritise the security and welfare of Nigerians, which is the primary responsibility of the government.
The Speaker commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who was billed to leave Nigeria on Wednesday for the 20th G20 Summit in South Africa and later Luanda to attend the 7th AU-EU Summit, for suspending the trip.
Speaker Abbas prayed for the safe return of the abducted Kebbi schoolgirls and Kwara worshippers.
