Ogun Cooperative Community Irepodun Egbasowapo has called on the government to partner with the Cooperative Society in Nigeria on poverty alleviating schemes calling on Nigerians who are yet to be part of any cooperative to join one.

The coordinator of the cooperative society Mrs Salimot Adewusi made the call during her 1st-year annual general meeting held at Obada on Friday.

Salimot while speaking with newsmen said it is pertinent for Nigerians to key into a cooperative society, lamenting the rate at which the economy of the country keeps skyrocketing and demands alternative sources for business owners.

She admonished that anyone who is not into cooperatives should try and get one which is govt approved, adding that not every business owner has money in cupboards, but through the financial support of co-operatives, they can thrive.

“Not all business owner has the money, not every car owner has money, not every house owner has the money but through co-operative many have been able to achieve what they have”.

“We call on government at all levels to always check on co-operatives organization, they should not say because they are not the one financing them and feels they should be abandon cooperatives”

Meanwhile, the cooperative also sanitised people on reasons why they need to join cooperatives.

“For me cooperation is good and dreams are achievable there, I will advise that anyone who is not into any cooperative should try and look for a good and trustworthy cooperative to join.

“No one has the money but the little you drop every week is something by the time you want to collect a loan with low interest of just #15 on every #1000 you borrow. And for cooperative loans the better your performance the lower your low”.
