
Cultist Killed in Ijebu Ode, Hand Severed
A middle-aged man, nicknamed “Mosquito”, was killed by suspected cultists in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
The victim suffered machete wounds, and gunshot injuries, and had his left hand severed. The police found six expended cartridges at the scene and confirmed he was a member of the Aye confraternity.
This incident is the latest in a series of similar killings in the state, with at least three lives lost recently.
The police responded to a distress call at 11:40 pm on August 11, 2024, and found the victim’s body. He was pronounced dead at Ijebu Ode State Hospital.
“A concerned citizen through a phone call at about 2340hrs of 11th August 2024 reported that cultists were involved in a confrontation along Ijagun Road, in Ijebu Ode Ogun State”.
“ Upon receiving the information, the Divisional Police Officer quickly dispatched a team of officers to the scene.
“ On arrival, and after a careful examination, the Divisional Police Officer discovered the body of an unidentified middle-aged man with machete wounds and gunshot injuries.
“ Additionally, it was noticed that his left hand had been severed, removed, and taken away.
The statement added that the body of the deceased was evacuated and transferred to Ijebu Ode State Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
