Community Development Initiative Harps On Accurate Reportage On Sexual Gender-Based Violence

The Community Development Initiative has trained media practitioners on accurate reportage of sexual and gender-based violence matters, calling for the total eradication of gender-based violence in society.
The workshop was held on Friday, in Ijebu Ode, the Ogun state, with the presence of media practitioners and stakeholders across the state.
Speaking at the workshop, the Executive Director of the Community Development Initiative, Mr. Igbodipe Olumide Fidelix explained that incidences of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence seem unending and affecting the public due to reported cases they had in their offices.
He posited that gender-based violence is a virus and it must be eradicated in society, adding that God created men and women in his image, thereby making every human God a replica.
He also argued that the majority of females don’t have the Right to Reproductive Health, despite the effort of the Ogun state government with a lot of policies that include the Child Rights Act and Safe Termination of Pregnancy (STOP) guidelines.
According to him” The incident of cases of sexual and gender-based violence in the state according to what has been reported in our office and others that have been transferred to Court looks like the sexual and gender-based violence is not coming to an end, which is affecting the public.
“Gender-based violence is a virus and it kills, this thing should be eradicated in our society, all men and women should focus on humans and save humanity from being ridiculed or abused”.
“God created men and women in his Image, so every human being are replica of God and whatever you are doing to any human being you are doing it unto God, and whatever one is doing to help the human being is denying God that created him”.
He also noted that the majority of females do not have the right to reproductive health which informs why Community Development Initiatives need to go into the project.
“Though, the state government has a lot of policies put in place, which include the Child Rights Act, STOP guideline and a lot of residents in Ogun state don’t have access to these Acts or know that these laws exist and CDI to look into it, talk to the government and make the law accessible and available for people in a common language that they will understand”.
