Associates of Suspended Olorile of Orile-Ifo Cry Foul Over Continuous Detention

Some of the associates of Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, the suspended Olorile of Orile-Ifo in Ogun State, have raised concerns over his continuous detention at the Correctional Centre in Ilaro.
They lamented that despite being granted bail by Magistrate F.A Iroko on Tuesday, with a bail condition of N5 million and two sureties, the monarch remains in custody
According to the associates, who spoke on condition of anonymity, every effort to perfect the bail condition was frustrated by the Police Prosecutor Inspection Officer and a top politician within the Ifo area.
They alleged that there is a grand plan to keep the traditional ruler in detention perpetually, even after his suspension by the Ogun State Government and Egba Traditional Council.
The associates claimed that some top officials of the court are conspiring to make the bail condition difficult to perfect, thereby preventing the monarch’s release on bail.
They maintained that all necessary steps were taken to perfect the bail condition on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, but to no avail.
Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, punishable under Section 249(d) of the Ogun State Criminal Code Law 2006.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his trial has been adjourned until March 6, 2025.
