The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has hailed the Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez (BOA), for his political doggedness, attributing his potential to former Governor Olabisi Onabanjo.

Alake stated that the humility of Balogun will lead him to greater heights in his political career, noting that he could be the next Onabanjo in Ogun State, who clinched the governorship seat after serving as a Local Government Chairman.

He made the remarks when he received the Chairman at his palace, along with his legislative arms and Directors of Departments at the Local Government.

Alake admonished him to restore the glory of the Council, recalling that the Council was the first in Nigeria and referred to as the “Premier” Local Government.

He also directed him to ensure that all departments have the necessary equipment to work with, urging him to monitor them judiciously.

Alake emphasized that Local Government is regarded as the third tier of Government, and people are expecting the dividends of democracy, thereby urging him to prioritize development.

In response, Balogun assured the paramount ruler that he would follow his advice, noting that he would ensure the glory of the “Premier” Council was restored during his administration.

Balogun asserted that the prayers received during the campaign yielded victory in the election.

Present at the courtesy visit were; the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Chief Mrs. Oluranti Ogunjemilusi; and Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Jamiu Ogundairo; other members of the legislative arm; Rufus Olaleye, Head of Local Government Administration, Directors of Departments amongst others.
